welcoming you as family since 2004

Our story at Casa Verde is one that involves many different people putting their heart into building, maintaining, loving, and personalizing this beautiful space - a space that we are so happy to welcome you to.

The hotel was built in 2004 by David Webb, who owned it until we took over in 2016. We had been coming to La Ventana for many years on vacation and were enjoying maternity leave in the CV campground after our first son was born. A few drastic and amazing life changing decisions happened that year and we were able to take over this place we had grown to love.

Our team is more than just the two of us, but we like to keep it small as we are a tight knit group. Read more below to find out about all of us who you will meet during your stay at the hotel.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Meet Our Team

Emily Cheevers

Mum, artist, kiter, yogi, violinist, avid coffee drinker - Emily grew up in the hospitality industry before going into fundraising where she worked until having kids and moving to Baja. She is now happily hosting guests at Casa Verde as well as our primary yoga teacher.

Phil Cheevers

Dad, kiter, chef extraordinaire - Phil is a classic renaissance man who has done everything from blowing glass, running a kitchen, working as an accountant to owning his own painting company. He now keeps Casa Verde running smoothly and the guests laughing.

Monica Ruiz Leon

Monica has worked enjoyed working at Casa Verde for years and is often singing through the hotel as she goes about her day. She loves welcoming guests that she has known for years as well as meeting new guests. With plans to both travel and learn to kite in the future, Monica is our off-season caretaker. From May - October, she and her family live onsite and caretake the hotel, ensuring any guests in the summer are comfortable.

Janet Romero

Janet worked previously at Casa Verde and after a few years hiatus, we are thrilled to have her rejoin our team in 2021. She is from La Ventana and lives here with her family and three children. She recently had her first granddaughter and is loving spending time with her!

Gabriel Cheevers

Gabe has been in La Ventana since 2 weeks old and following in dad's footsteps will keep guests laughing constantly. He loves tickle fights, making sand castles, and anything that seems too dangerous to mum.

Lola Cheevers

Lola adopted us in our first month of having the hotel. She was an abandoned street pup and quickly transitioned to life both at Casa Verde and in Victoria in our off season.

Elliot Cheevers

Elliot first visited La Ventana when he was 7 weeks old and is a great playmate to any kids at the hotel. He loves painting, reading, swimming, and is keen to start kiting soon.
